Motor vehicle accidents happen every day on Florida’s highways, streets and rural roadways. In most cases, accidents are minor, with property damage and minor injuries. But in some cases, serious accidents can lead to life-altering injuries or loss of life. Tragically, an infant died in a recent accident in Miami-Dade County, and others were injured in the crash.
Accident details
The accident happened on the Florida Turnpike at around 3:15 in the morning. A Toyota sedan was traveling behind a Ford sedan. Both vehicles were headed north. For unknown reasons, the Toyota struck the rear of the Ford. The impact caused severe damage to both vehicles. There were four people inside the Toyota, including two young children.
The driver and three passengers of the Toyota were taken to a nearby trauma center. Sadly, the three-month-old, who was riding in the backseat at the time of the collision, did not survive. The driver of the Ford was also taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators are not sure what caused the Toyota to collide with the other vehicle. No charges have been filed against either driver at this time.
How to seek restitution for motor vehicle accidents
A serious car accident can cause physical and emotional trauma for those involved and their family members, especially if the accident happened due to driver negligence. When a life is lost during a car accident, the surviving loved ones may be left with many accident-related costs that can be quite a financial burden. While filing suit against the party at fault cannot bring back a loved one, the funds awarded can help take care of the unexpected costs associated with the accident. Florida victims or surviving family members can speak with an experienced personal injury attorney to see what options they have.
